I’ve lived on the West Coast now for three years, and it still takes my breath away for a couple of seconds every time I get out to the beach. The beauty, the light, the color and landscape are so different from my Texas roots….although there is still plenty of beauty in Texas, don’t get me wrong! However, there is something about watching the waves crash, looking up at the cliffs or staring out at the horizon that just is so amazing. Family beach days with kids can be work. I’m talking about my own family here, not this beautiful one. We are not the family that treks out to the beach, sand toys in hand as often as we have the chance. We are the family that contemplates whether the mess and clean up are worth the fun that the beach brings. =) But when I get a chance to see the beach through another family’s eyes and watch the joy and fun that comes with splashing through the waves, and enjoying this beauty together, fun definitely wins out.
