Emmett / Spring, TX Newborn Photographer

I have another little Watch Me Grow baby to introduce to you. Emmett is loved by his family so much, and I was overjoyed to be welcomed back for round two after capturing both big brother and big sister’s first year. I love watching those newly promoted big siblings take on their new role as caretaker…while still babes themselves.

In fact, these two siblings just crawled on into Emmett’s crib and joined him…which made for really cute photos.

Chavada / Houston, TX At Home Family Photographer

I sometimes get asked to photograph childrens’ birthday parties, which are a lot of fun. This mama planned ahead and decided to have me arrive early so we could tack on at home lifestyle family session before Kabir’s friends and family arrived.

We started right after nap time, which can be a bit of a gamble. Most toddlers need a second to wake up, but that was no problem because we got some sweet cuddly shots before moving on to engaging more. I need a second to wake up as well! Can you imagine if a photographer arrived first things in the morning?? I’m sorry Kabir. He forgave me though, and we were buddies not too long after starting.

Daisy & Crew / The Woodlands TX First Year Baby Photographer

I’m so excited to finally share this fall photo session from little Daisy’s sitter session. A sitter session is part of my Watch Me Grow baby packages and usually takes place between 7 and 8 months of age. I absolutely love this age!! These babes can usually sit up unassisted by now but haven’t quite taken off on the move. I like to call it the “potted plant” stage and it doesn’t last for long!

Daisy has twins for older siblings and we got to incorporate both big brother and sister into the photo session as well as mom and dad. We always balance the focus on baby and family so we capture those milestones and smiles as well as family interaction.

We had so many giggles and smiles for this session! You’ll see by looking at these photos that there was no shortage of fun!

Emmie / The Woodlands TX North Houston Newborn Photographer

Oh sweet baby Emmie….your newborn photo session was so much fun. I adore your family and felt like it was just yesterday that we were wrapping up your big brother’s cake smash for his Watch Me Grow Year. I was so excited to meet you and reconnect with your mom, dad and big brother Ian. I was even more thrilled that this would be the first of many sessions in your own Watch Me Grow year!

As you probably know by now, your big brother sometimes likes to grab attention. Don’t worry, this is the case for most older siblings! I know you’re probably already used to it by now and are so entertained watching him be silly. (This tolerance will likely change as you get older). Here’s the deal. He loves you so much. He wanted to be wherever you were…peeking in on you, playing peekaboo, counting your toes, showing you ALL of the toys.

This made for such a fun newborn photo session because all of that was just perfect. You also have a super sweet puppy that has to be the most well trained dog I know. He wanted to check in on things and make sure all was right with his people. I love that the camera got all of that.

Daisy at home / The Woodlands TX Baby Photographer

One of my very favorite photo session from the Watch Me Grow 1st Year packages are definitely my in home sessions following the newborn lifestyle session. By now these babes have been part of the family for four to five months. They’re squishy, smiley, and showing more of their little personalities.

Just like all of my Watch Me Grow sessions, these photos include the entire family. It’s fun to see how those big siblings have stepped into their role (check out big sis in these adorable photos…she couldn’t get enough of her little sister).

We know that in Houston, there are just about 8 months of summer, so it was helpful that this August session was at home as well. Can I get an Amen for air conditioning?? Everyone is more relaxed in their natural environment where shoes are optional and you are surrounded by all of your favorite comforts…including the ones you love most.

Dunn / The Woodlands TX Family & Baby Photographer

This family photo session will go down as one of my favorites of all time. Everything came together…the weather, the morning light, the outfits, and the LOCATION. It was everything we hoped for when we began planning for it.

Choosing a location is one of the biggest challenges; especially given where we live in The Woodlands, TX. You would think….what about all the trees? There’s got to be SO many places! Well, shooting in between a bunch of pine trees is not my idea of a beautiful backdrop. When looking for a location, the first thing that I always look for is beautiful light. Where will the sun be during our session? Is this a better morning spot or an evening spot?

After light, I look for accessibility and safety. Is the location fairly easy to access? Can we park close? Is it private or open land? What about traffic and wildlife? Is it an area that will work for my wanderers (i.e. toddlers)? All of these things have to be checked off. I also want my locations to offer a variety of textures. This can come in many forms. Maybe there is a mix of hardscape or landscaping that will offer pops of color and places to anchor little ones.

How many other photographers know about this spot? Unfortunately, many of the popular places are popular for a reason. I don’t want to share space with 10 other families and photographers (or Homecoming buses!).

See!? There is so much to consider! I was thrilled to find this location that checked the box to all of them. We had a glorious session that captured the love between these four and gave us plenty of room for snuggles, fun and laughter.

However before you get too excited….this location has sadly now been destroyed to make room for another apartment complex. SIGH. Back to searching for my next hidden gem…

Baylor / The Woodlands TX Newborn in Home Photographer

Seems just like yesterday that little Brooks turned one (or last week when I finally got around to sharing that session). Now he’s a big brother to sweet little sister, Baylor! I was over the moon for this family to welcome me back for another in home newborn photo session. Their gorgeous new house gave us plenty of room for sweet cuddles and lots of play….Brooks, I’m looking at you.

Big sister, Blakely was a pro, right from the beginning. She handled whatever came her way with such sweetness and was so excited to show off her little sister. We started the session by peeking in on Baylor in her basinet (check out that precious crib sheet!). While mom was changing baby Baylor, dad got some play time in with the big sibs. This is why lifestyle at home newborn sessions are the BEST! It’s a time capsule of life at this point…and all the fun in between moments.

Next, we moved up to this dream of a nursery to get some more newborn cuddles in. I loved the dress mom picked for our session…she looked absolutely GORGEOUS.

Then it was time for some more family hang time where we let the kids’ personalities be on full display. Why try to contrive a moment when just letting these kiddos be THEMSELVES always makes for the best photos! Check out our little ham, Brooks for the proof.

Brooks is ONE / The Woodlands TX First Year Baby Photographer

Woohoo, I’m back on the blog! I have so many sessions to share with you, but I’m going to start with this adorable first birthday baby photo session. I figured I better share Brooks’ cake smash session with you before I show you how he stole the show at his little sister’s newborn session just a few weeks ago.

In 2022, after much thought I’ve made a shift in my business to focus on my newborn, hospital and First Year Watch Me Grow families. As much as I love being a family photographer, it’s gotten increasingly difficult over the last few years to balance it with my own family. My kids are getting older…Addie just started high school if you can believe it! With one in high school, one in junior high, two school sports, and two club sports, LIFE. IS. BUSY. I needed to figure out a way to work smarter, so I’m no primarily only scheduling sessions when my kids are in school in order to free up weekends and evenings.

This has been difficult in some ways because I have a hard time saying no….especially to families that have been with me for years (some all 8 that I’ve been back in Houston!). However, it’s also allowed me to get to know some families so well when I see them multiple times a year….Watch Me Grow families, I’m looking at you.

These first birthday sessions are so fun and they are almost like the grand finale of these first year packages. We’ve watched these babies grow from their newborn session, in home baby session, sitter, and now …. it’s time for the cake! Let me let you in on a little something not every potential client realizes. Every single one of my sessions is also a family session. We don’t only watch these babies grow, we watch big brother or sister change as well! Mom and dad get to join in too.

There are a lot of pictures of Mr. Brooks here because his joy is contagious. Never have I ever seen a babe take to cake quite like he did. You must scroll down to see what I mean!

Montgomery County Family Photographer / Smith

I’m going to share something most photographers won’t share with anyone….my favorite location to shoot family photo sessions. Without a doubt, the best location is when a family invites me to their happy place. Sometimes this is their home or property. Other times I’ve shot families while on vacation, at a getaway place or even their favorite coffee shop. It’s always to special to capture a family in their element and when they are most comfortable….the genuine moments and real smiles (and sometimes pouts, which are just as fun) flow right out!

Sure I have other locations I can offer as suggestions here in an around The Woodlands, TX. Depending on what look you’re going for or where you and your family enjoy spending their time, I can guide you in the right direction. However, families who hire me are usually looking for those in between moments that capture the essence of their family. Sure, we’re going to get some pictures with everyone looking at the camera, but we’re also going to have a lot of fun playing games, joking around getting those images where it looks no one else is around but you and your people! What better place for that to happen than a location that’s special and unique to your crew?

Serene / Lifestyle Newborn Photographer in The Woodlands, TX

I often stay in touch with my photography clients through Facebook and Instagram after our sessions. It’s fun to stay connected this way and it’s also super helpful when we have a newborn session on the calendar.

Having worked with this beautiful family before when littlest big brother arrived, I was anxiously awaiting this little girl’s arrival. It came in the form of the sweetest proud daddy post I’ve ever seen. Side note…you must scroll through this huge gallery of pics to see how enamored daddy is with his sweet little girl.

Both big brothers were quite smitten as well….this girl will always know she is deeply loved and protected.
